Oh You, You Have Been Loved by Someone Good

I have somewhat of a weakness for maxi's. They're so easy; so comfy. How can I help that I have so many in my closet? The answer is: I cannot. Ha! This is my first pair of non knee-high boots, and I've gotta say that I'm a fan. These 80%20 Rina Booties happen to have a hidden wedge too, so I get extra height, as well as extra comfort. I've been a big fan of 80%20 for some time now and was thrilled to receive these booties in the mail a while back. Next one the wish list? Their Pepper bootie in bone! Or their Edie loafer in black. Swoon, right??  In other news, the three day weekend was so perfect and pleasant. I vote that all weeks have three day breaks.

Dyed Draped Button Up Tunic c/o ShopAkira; Vest: Forever 21; Pants: H&M; Shoes: Jessica Simpson

I've been searching for the perfect white pant since maybe my sophomore year of high school, which was the last time I owned a pair. Of course, due to a few things such as college (freshman 15, anyone?) and just life in general, those pants obviously did not last me long. But now, thankfully, after years and years of searching, I finally found the perfect pair. If these pants look familiar, it is because I also own them in hot pink (seen here) and peach (seen here). You KNOW how I feel about these pants. All I can say is, H&M, make them in more colors (please and thank you). I should probably also warn you that I also have them in black...and khaki. Yes, when I said I was going to get them in every color, I was not being facetious. This tunic button up was graciously sent to me from ShopAkira. It is a very welcome addition to my closet, as it fits my style well and I love the colors. ShopAkira has some pretty amazing things on their site right now, so I do suggest taking a gander! The vest is an oldie but a goodie. Leave it to Forever to make some genuinely affordable, but stylish pieces.

Little Bit of Red

IMG_6324.1 IMG_6282.1 IMG_6299.1 IMG_6325.1 IMG_6287.1 Dress via Poshmark, Sweater: Random, Necklace via Mama Bear; Bag & Shoes: Forever 21

You all got a little sneak peek of this outfit with yesterday's post, but I wanted to do it some proper justice. I purchased this beautiful silk dress via Poshmark a little while back (for a whopping $20, holla!) and waited for the perfect occasion to wear it. Once this bad boy was listed on the app, I knew it had to be mine. From the little black buttons and the white tuxedo-shirt detail to the sweetheart line color-contrast, I was sold. I've already started thinking of other ways to wear it and can't wait until summer hits (which is basically in October for us San Franciscans), so I can wear it sans-tights. The necklace, a little treasure from my mom's collection of jewels, is one of the prettiest necklaces I've worn in a long time. Luckily for me, my mama bear doesn't mine sharing her unique jewelry collection with me, so I can wear this one any time I please. Finally, I decided to finish off the outfit with a hint of red in the lips and sweater.

Have To Have Blogger Dinner

IMG_6259.1

One evening last week, I had the absolute pleasure of attending a special blogger dinner for Have to Have, hosted by two of my favorite bay area blogger buddies, Carlina and Jessica. Dinner was held at  the delicious, Beretta, located in the Mission district, here in the city. Wine, pizza, olives, salad, cocktails, and lots of bloggers...what else could be better? It was my first time at Beretta (Italian food is my least favorite, as you may recall), but it was so, so yummy! Friends, I might actually be getting some taste buds for Italian food, ha! It was also my first time learning about Have to Have, which is essentially a "modern- day registry to save, share, and decide everything that you have to have." With Have to Have, you create a profile, save items that you're currently craving by creating lists, share items, get updates on what goes on sale, and ultimately, decide what you're going to buy. It's a pretty nifty way to keep track of all the things you want and need. Overall, it was a great night filled with food, friends, and, of course, fashion.

Thank you again to hosts, Carlina, Jessica, and Kim of Have to Have for such a lovely evening!

Earlier this week, I attended the Digital Style Digest Launch Party, which was held at the the Zappos office here in the city. It was such a wonderfully diverse event, where party-goers ranged from those in the tech and digital sphere to the fashionistas and bloggers of the bay area. Digital Style Digest, an online destination for fashion and tech, is newly founded by Lorraine Sanders. Lorraine is the creator of SF Indie Fashion and also writes for the San Francisco Chronicle's Style Bytes column. The party also featured other notable local businesses such as Threadflip, Kitchit, and Zappos. I had such a great time meeting new faces and talking to other San Franciscans about their interests in the fashion and tech community. I am really looking forward to what's coming next here, especially in regards to the intersection of digital and fashion. I know that the ideas are flowing, and I truly believe the fashion community is really making a name for itself here in the city. Special thanks to all of Wednesday night's hosts for putting on such a wonderful event!

This Old Routine Will Drive You Mad It's Just a Mumble Never Spoken Out Loud

IMG_6101.1 IMG_6067.1 IMG_6108.1 IMG_6105.1 IMG_6110.1 Jeans: Guess (Similar); Boyfriend Blazer: Nordstrom (Similar); Heels and Button Up: Forever 21; Necklace and Bag: H&M

I've been looking for the perfect work tote for a while now and thanks to H&M, I've found it. Scored this baby for $20! How's that for ballin' on a budget? It's a classic piece that I think will last me a long time and I just love how roomy it is! I've also been on the lookout for as many affordable button up's as I can get my hands out, and while I'd prefer to get some print in there, a little pop of color isn't so bad either. I almost walked out of Forever without this, but after a few walks around the store, I decided that it'd be a good one to have. The blazer you've seen before, but I can't get enough of it. The mister teases that I look like I'm a doctor in it, and while I sort of agree, that isn't going to stop me from wearing it. My wardrobe has changed just a bit since I've started work, and now I'm on the prowl for practical and classic pieces...but don't mistake that for boring!

Food Friday: Woodhouse Fish Co.

Woodhouse Fish Co. 1914 Fillmore Street

The gist: Last week, the boy and I were in the mood for seafood, so we made our way down to Pac Heights to try Woodhouse Fish Co. I had heard a little bit about it before and because the menu looked appetizing to both of us, we were really excited for dinner. When we got there around 7 or so, the wait wasn't too bad at all, especially considering it was a Friday night. After taking a closer look at the menu, it was a little harder to choose what to order, but with a little help from our server we finally placed our orders and waited. We started with six half shell oysters and a bowl of clam chowder. I ordered the Stuffed Artichoke, which was split in half, grilled, and then filled with dungeness crab and bat shrimp. The boy ordered the Toasted-Buttered Dungeness Crab Roll. What I liked: The menu has a fairly good selection, especially if you are a seafood lover. From fish and chips to fish tacos, there's something in there for everyone. The clam chowder we started with was delicious and a perfect portion for sharing. I also appreciated the generous size of my main dish. My artichoke was laid over a refreshing salad (with beets! I love beets). And, I stole quite a few of the boy's fries because they were oh-so-delicious. What I didn't like: I was a bit disappointed with the oysters. Not to be nitpicky or anything, because they were good, they just weren't great. I've had a lot of oysters in my life (a lot), so I appreciate a good, plush, fresh, cold oyster. I know what I like, and I've had better. I've also had a lot of crab in my life (a lot, a lot), so I wasn't too wow'd by the crab stuffed in my artichoke, but it was still a good dish. I think next time I will go for the crab cakes.

Overall, Woodhouse is definitely reasonably priced and you get what you pay for. The service is good and the food is equally as good. I can't say that this was my favorite place, but I should probably warn you that because I basically grew up on seafood, my expectations for  it are a lot higher than most. I'm just a girl who loves her sea creatures!
