Life has been pretty crazy busy lately... so busy that I'm tired just thinking about it all. Also, I cannot believe that tomorrow is the first day of May! Crazy how time just zooms on by. I have a ton of posts and things to share with you, but you'll have to excuse my slow blogging as I adjust to this busy bee lifestyle that has recently come upon me. For now, hope you will enjoy these bright snaps!

Hot Hot Heat: Coachella 2012

coachella

If you follow me on Twitter, then you know that I won a ticket to Coachella for weekend two. I had three short days to plan a whirlwind adventure to the desert, and even now, I still can't believe how it all worked out! Many of my friends went during weekend one and reported rain, cold weather, and wind. I checked the forecast before packing, but nothing could have prepared me for the hottest Coachella weekend in history. 106 degrees. Yes, you read that right. 106 degree weather in the DESERT. It was so hot, that halfway through day two, my shorts and pants didn't fit anymore! No joke. I also think I spent $80 on just water, haha. All in all, Coachella was a great experience. I met some wonderful people and discovered some amazing music. My favorite sets from the weekend were The Black Keys on day one, Miike Snow on day two, and Lissie on day three. I also discovered First Aid Kit and you must check out their music if you haven't heard of them. Anyways, here are some fun photos from my time in the desert. Stay tuned for more posts with Coachella style snaps :)

When your wrists haven't grown since the age of five and your fingers are like long string beans, you learn fast that bracelets and rings will almost never make it as a part of your daily ensemble. While this is a hard thing to accept, given the latest "arm party" trend, you learn to cope and work with what you've got. Thankfully for gals like me, there are statement necklaces to be had, and boy, do I love to have them. This beautiful bold necklace by Accesorize was sent to me as a part of DailyBuzz Style's April 9x9 Styling Challenge. I was thrilled when I received it because I kept thinking about all the ways I could wear it. For the challenge, I decided to style my new necklace with my favorite new ombré button up c/o Crash and Burn, a gold skirt from Forever 21, a white boyfriend blazer from Nordstrom, a bag from Urban Outfitters and quilted black flats by Steve Madden. I love how the ombré shirt matches with the clouds in the sky, the necklace compliments the gold skirt, and the bag and flats finish the outfit off. Often times, an outfit is amazing on its own, but once you add a statement necklace, like the one above, it makes your clothes come together in a different way.

I want to give a special thanks to DailyBuzz Style for giving me the opportunity to be featured in this month's challenge! Also, I know it seems like I fell off the face of the planet last week, but I was terribly busy with work, planning a last minute trip to Coachella, filming a special campaign project, and am just now getting back into real life, ha! Promise to be better in the weeks to come. Lots of good things coming your way, so I am excited to share!!

Blue Crush

Chanda-3759 Chanda-3740 Chanda-3746 Chanda-3776 Coat: Nordstrom; Dress: Random boutique; Shoes: Shoe Republic LA c/o LuLus.com; Photos by: Tim Wong

Is it just me, or does my hair seem to have already grown out quite a bit since my cut? I feel like it will be long again in no time! Maybe it's time to start thinking about what to do next... Anyhoo, here are some quick snaps of a dress that I've been getting a lot of wear out of. Excuse the first shot where it looks like I have a tummy poof! I love the simplicity of the dress --the chunky stripes, the classic colors, and the skinny belt. While I can see myself wearing it in many ways (fun collared shirt underneath, sweater over top, layered outerwear), this is probably the way you'll see me wear it most. The shoes were a gift from LuLu's and they are easily one of my favorite pairs at the moment. They're not just easy on the eyes either! The chunky platform makes these sky high babies fairly comfortable, so they're easy on my feet! This week is a really busy one for me, but I'm excited to share with you what's going on when I can. Until then, hope you all have a great start to the week!

There are so few things in life better than all you can eat establishments, especially when you are a foodie. Imagine: all you can eat salad, kimchi, kimchi fried rice, and 19 different types of meat for $20! The sunny Saturday afternoon I was there, the wait was about 30 minutes or so, maybe even a little longer. For some, this might be long, but I assure you, it's definitely worth it if you are in the mood for some delicious KBBQ with all the fixings. Once seated, you can order anything your heart desires (as long as it's on the menu, of course, haha) and the servers are more than attentive. (There's even a button you can push at your table if you need assistance!) What's great about this place, compared to others, is that the grill is stone, so it's much easier to clean in between grilling... this basically means more meat at faster rates. Everything is fresh and extremely tasty and the selection is great. There are about three or four different sauces for taste and each one is distinct and flavorful. Aside from the copious amounts of meat, I would like to point out that the salad they serve here is bomb dot com. Seriously, they served a salad in something reminiscent of a mixing bowl, and I really did eat all of it. The only down side to all you can eat is that you normally eat all you can and more. By the end of the meal I thought I was going to fall over, but a few hours later I was already on to my next meal...typical.

Ever since Dietch PR first introduced me to her jewelry, I have been a big, big fan of Anna Korte's line, AK Vintage. So, when Dietch told me she'd be hosting a trunk show in San Francisco, I penciled it in my calendar and eagerly awaited meeting the creative mind behind one of my favorite jewelry lines. It was so great spending a Saturday afternoon chatting with Anna and getting to know her. We talked about everything from her life in Portland and the inspiration behind her latest line, to random childhood stories and food. For those unfamiliar with AK Vintage, Anna's handcrafted  jewelry is made from sustainable parts, along with vintage leather and other vintage findings. It's amazing how Anna transforms simple geometric shapes into intricate, eye-catching pieces. Another thing that I really love is how each piece has a unique, vintage-charm feel. I'm definitely looking forward to seeing more from Anna, and I hope that you will all stop by her site and check out her amazing pieces!

Wisdom Wednesday

"One important key to success is self-confidence. An important key to self-confidence is preparation." -- Arthur Ashe
"Rockin' Everywhere" Look book, LF Stores, Spring 2012

You never know when the moment is going to hit you. What moment? The moment that lives in your dreams. The moment that changes everything. The moment. So, while you are busy dreaming up that moment, dream up your drafts on how you will get there and how you will make darn sure that once it arrives, you are ready, in every single way, to take it. And not just take it. Take it; run with it; make it yours. Success is such a loaded word, as I've often discussed. But, one component of being successful is being confident. Successful people know, confidently (and not cockily), that their dreams aren't just dreams...they are realities waiting to happen. And how are they so sure? Because, they're not just waiting for their dreams to happen. They are working towards those dreams each and every day, planting the seeds, making them grow, slowly, but surely. Successful people are confident that they are going to make things happen. Confident people are prepared to make things happen. And what about the "luck" factor? Well, really, what is "luck?" It's opportunity meeting preparation. The moment that changes everything often only comes once. You have to be confident in your abilities to seize the moment, but more importantly, you must be prepared enough to handle it once it is there.
