Sittin' On The Dock of the Bay

It's been a while since I've done a blog post about food. Okay, rewind. It's actually been a while since I've done a post. My apologizes for my absence! With the holiday season upon us, I've been running around on empty and spending 90% of my time at work. In fact, I have been so tired, that twice this week, the action of momentarily closing my eyes really lead to an unexpected three to four hour nap. Imagine my dismay when I woke up at 2 in the morning and realized that 1) It's 2 in the morning and 2) I've slept through a Lifetime movie. Yes, I am serious about the Lifetime movie. (Fun fact: Lifetime happens to be one of my favorite channels, haha). Anyways, enough about my old lady status, and on to the good stuff. I know you are all dying to feel your tummies rumble, so for that reason I knew I had to make this one extra yummy. Enjoy!

Palomino  345 Spear St.

The gist: While I was in college, one of my favorite places to wind down after a long week was Palomino. Right on the edge of Westwood Village, it was always worth the walk, but only for their Happy Hour. A few weeks ago, I was reminiscing about my undergrad days and decided to try out the San Francisco location just for old time's sake. What I hated: There's not much to hate when drinks are $5, appetizers are half off, and you can get a whole pizza to yourself for only $6! If I had to pick something, and this is me at my nit-pickiest, I'd say that I was disappointed with their calamari dipping sauces. The red marinara-like sauce tasted out of place, and don't ask me what that orange sauce was, because after one dip, I stuck to the sub-par red sauce. What I liked: Situated right next to the Embarcadero, the SF location of Palomino is excellent. They have an indoor and outdoor area, but if you're trying to stay out of the chilly city weather, get there earlier if you want to be seated indoors. The prices are right on point, and the selection definitely hits the spot.

Calamari is my favorite fried food. I can't get enough!

  11. wow, Palomino looks FANTASTIC! My mouth is watering just looking at that pizza (it doesn't help I woke up this morning craving pizza and was considering getting a slice for breakfast....yes, I am that person). I can't believe a happy hour personal pie is just $6...and a nice-sized personal pie at that!

Clearly the view is also fantastic.....love that shot of the bridge (and the bird).

I need to stop telling you how much I love your photography, because I think I do so every time.

  19. I love Palomino, they have the best happy hour! Maybe I'll run into you next time there. The truffle mushroom pizza is the best--it's a few bucks more than hh prices, but totally worth it ;)
